Renowned artist Joseph Fehér (1908-1987) was originally from Hungary but found his artistic calling in Hawaii from the 1930s to the 1960s. He was captivated by the rich history and culture of Hawaii, creating a series of beautiful watercolor maps for the Dole Pineapple Company and posters featuring destinations serviced by United Airlines. As a senior curator at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, Feher compiled a comprehensive history of Hawaii titled 'Hawaii: A Pictorial History'. In addition to designing the Hawaii Statehood Commemorative Postage Stamp in 1959 and redesigning the state seal, he represented the Bishop Museum's Hawaii exhibit at the New York World's Fair in 1964.

In the 1970s, Feher turned his focus to Printmaking, particularly favoring etching as a medium. He continued to share his passion for art by teaching at the Academy of Arts, leaving a lasting impact on his students.
